Essentials over novelties
We publish for the long arc. A great oxford, a well-cut trouser, a coat you can hand down — these are the building blocks. Novelties are noted, but never the headline.
Withoutallergy is an editorial home for fashion-forward essentials and modern lifestyle intelligence — a place where the things you wear and the way you live are guided by clarity, not noise.
Withoutallergy began as a small notebook — a list of the pieces, ideas, and rituals that genuinely improved the way we dressed and the way we lived. It became a magazine, then a brand, then this site.
We started in 2019 with a simple frustration: the endless cycle of trends, drops, and algorithm-driven recommendation had made style feel reactive rather than personal. Our founders — a fashion editor, a textile designer, and a former buyer — believed the answer wasn't more, but better. Fewer pieces, chosen with intent, styled with knowledge, lived in for years.
What grew from that notebook is a publication and a small but deliberate collection of essentials. Every garment, every guide, every recommendation is filtered through the same lens: would this still be worth choosing in five years? If the answer is yes, it belongs here. If not, it doesn't make the page.
Style advice is everywhere. We're interested in the small set of principles that make it last — the ones a person can carry with them through every season, every trend, every wardrobe rebuild.
We publish for the long arc. A great oxford, a well-cut trouser, a coat you can hand down — these are the building blocks. Novelties are noted, but never the headline.
Every maker, mill, and material we recommend is named. We work with 34 small ateliers and family-run factories across Portugal, Japan, and northern Italy — and we say so, plainly.
What you wear is downstream of how you live. Our editorial covers interiors, travel, food, and the small systems that make a daily routine feel composed — not because of what you own, but because of the choices you keep making.
From a new trouser to a guide on building a capsule wardrobe, every piece of content and every product passes through the same editorial review. Nothing ships until it answers yes to all four.
We work directly with mills and ateliers we've visited in person. No anonymous supply chains, no mystery factories.
Every garment is worn for at least 30 days by our editorial team. Every guide is lived with, not just written.
If a piece or idea doesn't pass our five-year test, it doesn't make the page — regardless of how beautiful it is today.
Nothing stands alone. Every recommendation sits inside a guide, a story, or a system that explains how to live with it.
Withoutallergy is run by four editors and a network of contributing specialists — buyers, tailors, architects, cooks — who share a common belief: that taste, like style, is a practice.
